What is Lovely Vallonia?

Lovely Vallonia is a jam company and bakery located in Baltimore, Maryland. We utilize local fruit whenever possible, so our jams support local growers and change with the seasons! All of our jams and baked goods are 100% vegan.

Who are we?

Lovely Vallonia is run by Alison Carter-Lazalde, with help from Logan Lazalde. Alison is a former library professional with a passion for vegan cooking. Logan is an archivist with a passion for vegan eating.

What is the meaning of our name?

​

The Lovely Vallonia or Vallonia pulchella is a snail that has been spotted in North America, South America, and Europe, including very rarely in our home state of Maryland. It's an elusive little gastropod and that makes it all the more special. We became interested in snails at the beginning of the pandemic. With nowhere else to go, we went to the woods to go "snailing." We have never seen a Lovely Vallonia (most people haven't), but we came across the name on a Maryland Biodiversity Project list and loved the sound of it.
